What is the best material for a mens ring in NZ?
It depends on what you do with your hands. Tungsten is the most scratch-resistant for office and trades work, titanium is the lightest and best for sensitive skin, silicone is the only safe choice for electrical work, heavy machinery or the gym, and gold or platinum suit dress wear and wedding bands you want to keep for decades. Most Kiwi buyers end up with two: a precious-metal wedding band and a tungsten or silicone daily-wear ring.
Can tungsten rings be resized?
No. Tungsten is too hard to cut and re-solder the way gold or silver can be, so if your finger size changes you need a replacement rather than a resize. This is why getting sizing right at purchase matters, and why we offer a sizing exchange on first orders. If you expect your finger size to fluctuate, titanium or a precious metal is a more flexible long-term choice.
How much do mens rings cost in NZ?
Silicone rings run $20-$40 NZD, tungsten and titanium bands typically sit between $90 and $250, and precious metals like 9ct or 18ct gold start around $600 and climb based on weight and width. Are tungsten rings safe to wear?
Yes, and arguably safer than gold or silver for active wearers. Because tungsten shatters under heavy impact rather than bending or compressing, it can be cracked off in an emergency without crushing the finger, which is a known risk with softer metals. Day to day it resists scratches better than any other ring metal, so it stays looking new for years on the worksite.
How do I measure my ring size at home in NZ?
Wrap a strip of paper or string around the base of the finger, mark where it overlaps, and measure the length in millimetres against an NZ ring size chart (NZ uses the same letter sizing as the UK and Australia). Measure at the end of the day when your hands are warm, not first thing in the morning, and size up half a size for bands wider than 8mm.
