Tungsten carbide is one of the hardest metals used in jewellery, scoring around 9 on the Mohs scale, so day-to-day scratches from desks, tools and gym equipment rarely leave a mark. Wipe the ring with a soft cloth and warm soapy water every week or two to lift skin oils and soap residue, then dry it fully before putting it back on. Avoid dropping it on tile or concrete — tungsten resists scratching but can chip or fracture from a hard impact.
Take the ring off before heavy lifting, contact sports or rock climbing, since unlike softer metals tungsten cannot be cut off with standard ring cutters in an emergency (medics use a vice-grip crack method instead). The polish holds for years without re-buffing, and the ring will not tarnish, oxidise or react with chlorine in pools or spas.
