The details.

Technical ceramic is scratch-resistant, lightweight, and permanently coloured — the colour goes all the way through, not just a surface coating. Available in 6mm — Hypoallergenic and non-conductive. Harder than most metals but less flexible — it can crack under sharp impact rather than bending. For a clean, modern look that holds its colour without replating or maintenance, ceramic is a solid pick. Get the sizing right upfront, as ceramic can't be resized.

I was under the impression that my shipping for my exchange would be refunded since I picked it up. Ring is great. My mistake on resizing, but an exchange fee plus shipping was charged ($19) for a $70 ring.

Hi, the developer from WooCommerce for BuddyPress is wrkoing on it next. We assume for now that we will publish the WooCommerce-BuddyPress-Marketplace as an own plugin. Regarding the product-groups you can do some similar stuff already with our Custom Group Types plugin. It is still in dev mode and we do not recommend to use it for productive sites unless you are a developer and want to use the code ;) Check here for the code of CGT: Anyway, your input will be forwared to the developer. Have a nice weekend! Konrad

Extremely happy (even my wife loves it) with ring, correct size, prompt delivery.

This ring is to replace my gold wedding ring lost more than 20 years ago...wanted to get something different.

Will certainly spread word about Mens Rings Online. The rating is a sure 5.

Caring for your Ceramic ring

High-tech ceramic rings (usually zirconium dioxide) are extremely hard — comparable to tungsten on the Mohs scale — and the colour is solid all the way through, so scratches don't show as bright silver underneath. Black ceramic is particularly popular for staying black for life with no plating to wear off. Wash with warm soapy water and a soft cloth as needed; the surface is non-porous so it never stains.

The trade-off is brittleness — ceramic resists scratching brilliantly but can crack or shatter on a hard drop onto tile or concrete. Take it off for heavy lifting, climbing and any work involving hammers or angle grinders. Like tungsten, ceramic rings cannot be resized after manufacture, and emergency removal uses the same vice-grip crack technique. Hypoallergenic, chemical-proof, and pool-safe.

Common questions about Ceramic rings

Are ceramic rings durable for daily wear?

Yes for scratch resistance — ceramic holds its finish better than gold, silver or titanium over the long term. The weakness is impact: a sharp drop on a tile floor can chip or crack it. Most NZ buyers find this trade acceptable for the permanent black or white finish.

Will a black ceramic ring fade?

No — the colour is the ceramic material itself, not a coating, so it never wears off, fades or rubs through. A 10-year-old black ceramic ring looks identical to a new one, which is the main reason owners choose it over black-plated metal.

Can ceramic rings be resized?

No — ceramic is fired hard and cannot be stretched or cut and re-joined. Get sized accurately before ordering; NZ jewellers size for free. If you're between sizes, order the half-size up.

What happens if I need a ceramic ring cut off in an emergency?

Same approach as tungsten — NZ emergency staff use locking pliers or a vice-grip to crack the ring at two points. Tell medics it's ceramic, not metal, so they reach for the right tool straight away rather than wasting time with a standard ring cutter.

Considering alternatives?

Ceramic and tungsten rings share a lot of properties — both hard, scratch-proof, hypoallergenic and non-resizable. Tungsten has more weight and a brighter mirror polish; ceramic is lighter and offers permanent matte-black or pure-white finishes that tungsten can't match.
