Why pick a tungsten ring over titanium or gold?

Tungsten is the hardest metal commonly used in men's rings — close to 9 on the Mohs scale. That means it stays polished and scratch-resistant through years of daily wear where softer metals dull and scuff. It's also heavier than titanium, which gives it a more substantial feel on the finger. The trade-off: tungsten can't be resized, so getting your size right at order time matters. Can a tungsten ring be cut off in an emergency?

Yes. Although tungsten is extremely hard, it's also brittle compared to softer metals — emergency services can crack and remove it using standard ring-cutter tools (it doesn't need to be sawn off). This is actually a safety feature: in a serious finger injury the ring can be removed quickly. Always tell emergency staff what your ring is made of so they use the right technique.

Why can't tungsten rings be resized?

Because of how hard the metal is. Resizing a ring works by warming the metal and stretching or compressing it — tungsten doesn't deform that way; it would crack before it stretched. Does tungsten tarnish or change colour over time?
