The details.

For Kiwi blokes who spend time outdoors or working with their hands, a silicone ring makes more sense than metal in a lot of situations. This one is flexible, non-conductive, and designed to break safely if it catches on something. Made from quality medical-grade silicone. Waterproof, easy to clean, and comfortable enough to forget about. If you're pulling wire, handling stock, fishing, or doing anything where a solid ring is a hazard, this is the practical swap. Wear your metal band for special occasions, this one for everything else.

Living with twin-groove black silicone

The twin grooves can hold grease or mud after workshop or stock work — a toothbrush under the tap clears them out fast. Black hides marks better than lighter silicone colours. Replace if you spot tearing near the grooves.

Sizing this medical-grade silicone band

Order your normal ring size — silicone stretches enough to forgive a half-size either way. If you're between metal sizes and want snugger fit, size down. NZ free sizer included.

Black silicone vs black tungsten daily

Tungsten looks sharper but won't snap if caught on wire or machinery — silicone will, saving your finger. Many blokes wear both: tungsten for town, this for work. See tungsten options.

Q: How long does black silicone last?

A: Daily heavy use gets about 18–24 months. Lighter wear stretches it to three years. At $29 NZD, replacement is easy.

Q: Pool and ocean safe?

A: Yes — chlorine and salt don't degrade medical-grade silicone. Rinse with fresh water afterwards if you can.

Q: Will the grooves catch on gloves?

A: The grooves are shallow and rounded — they don't snag on work gloves or wet-weather gear in practice.

Fantastic ring, great fit and really comfortable

True to size and colour. Men’s rings online were great to deal with and had quick communication. Will definitely be buying from them again!

Awesome product! I lost my wedding band while working, so was hesitant about getting one of these as they may be a cheap and tacky temporary replacement however I can say, it’s been the best piece of jewellery I’ve worn, so comfortable, not restrictive however does not move in your finger at all and you barely know it’s there. Also have a scented smell to it too so it’s always fresh :ok_hand::skin-tone-3:

Caring for your Silicone ring

Wash your silicone ring with mild soap and water, rinse thoroughly and let the ring and your skin dry before putting it back on. Avoid solvents, excessive heat and prolonged direct sunlight.

Inspect the band for damage or stretching and replace it when needed. Silicone can tear, but a ring is not protective equipment and does not guarantee protection from injury. Follow your workplace rules and remove jewellery where the task requires it.

Common questions about Silicone rings

Are silicone rings safe for tradies and dairy farmers in NZ?

Silicone is flexible, but no ring is a safety device. Do not assume silicone is permitted wherever metal rings are banned. Follow your workplace rules and task-specific safety instructions, and remove jewellery where required. We do not claim a certified tear force or protection from ring-avulsion injuries.

How long does a silicone wedding ring last?

Lifespan varies with fit, wear and exposure to heat or chemicals. Check your ring regularly and replace it if it tears, stretches or becomes damaged.

Can I wear a silicone ring in the ocean or hot pools?

Rinse the ring after contact with saltwater or pool water, then dry it and your skin thoroughly. Avoid excessive heat and follow the rules of the activity or venue. We do not provide a certified temperature rating for these rings.

Will a silicone ring trigger a skin reaction?

Any ring can trap moisture or irritate skin. Keep the ring and your skin clean and dry, and stop wearing it if irritation occurs. Seek advice from a health professional if symptoms persist.

Considering alternatives?

For a lightweight metal option for everyday wear, explore titanium rings. Choose a ring for comfort and style, and follow workplace or activity rules about when to remove jewellery.
