The details.

Tungsten carbide is the hardest common ring metal going — this band will stay scratch-free through farm work, rugby, and general hard use that would mark up anything softer. The weight is solid and substantial without being uncomfortable. The surface keeps its polish for years with minimal care. One thing to be aware of: tungsten can't be resized, so measure your finger carefully before ordering. Also, for blokes working around machinery, consider a silicone ring as a worksite alternative. Tungsten looks sharp and stays that way.

Ring shipped to NZ very quickly, and was exactly as described. Definitely get the sizer though, I underestimated the size of my ring finger, luckily it fits my middle finger perfectly

Men’s rings online were very helpful excellent service

If your hesitating about ordering online... DON'T!! This company is fantastic! Besides the huge range to choose from, ordering is super easy on the website and the postage was so fast, only 2 days! My fiance ordered the wrong size initially but the return process was so simple. They include a ring sizer so you can be confident you get the right size for the return. The whole turn around process was only few days! You won't be dissapointed!
Thanks again!

Wow, cannot fault this company at all. A class service. The packaging is stunning. Extremely fast delivery. Wish I had found you before I used someone else. Thanks sooo much

I first ordered a different ring which unfortunately wasn’t the right size due to mistakes on my behalf. The staff of Mens Rings Online was extremely helpful in getting my wrongly sized ring swapped over to the tungsten ring I am wearing right now. The ring it self is amazing and I absolutely love the fact that it is basically scratch proof due the tungsten characteristics. I’d recommend anyone who is looking for a sturdy ring that doesn’t wear down to try out a tungsten ring.

Great range, ordered on the Monday, arrived Thursday! The packaging is classy and the free sizer is the perfect idea. Lucky for me I had the size right first go but very handy to have had if not. We’re very happy with our purchase. Thank you!

Fast ,quality item and great service

I purchased a certain item but due to a stock error the item I wanted was out of stock. I was notified within hours of purchasing the item and was offered a range of options to fix the error including a different size or a full refund.. I ended up picking a different item in the same size and Men’s Rings Online were able to provide the item straight away without delay.
I’ve had a lot of bad experiences with online shopping but these guys nailed it. So very happy with the service. Speedy postage too! :slightly_smiling:

Purchased a wedding band which initially was too large. Fortunately the customer service and return process was excellent. They provided a measuring tool so I could order the correct size. I received the new ring without having to wait to long. Would definitely recommend MensRingsOnline.

I had a great experience with MRO, returned the original ring due to the style not suiting me. I chose a replacement and received it very fast and with no fuss.
Customer Service was fantastic, all of my questions were answered promptly and politely.
I would Highly recommend MRO.

Caring for your Tungsten ring

Tungsten carbide is one of the hardest metals used in jewellery, scoring around 9 on the Mohs scale, so day-to-day scratches from desks, tools and gym equipment rarely leave a mark. Wipe the ring with a soft cloth and warm soapy water every week or two to lift skin oils and soap residue, then dry it fully before putting it back on. Avoid dropping it on tile or concrete — tungsten resists scratching but can chip or fracture from a hard impact.

Take the ring off before heavy lifting, contact sports or rock climbing, since unlike softer metals tungsten cannot be cut off with standard ring cutters in an emergency (medics use a vice-grip crack method instead). The polish holds for years without re-buffing, and the ring will not tarnish, oxidise or react with chlorine in pools or spas.

Common questions about Tungsten rings

Is tungsten a good metal for a men's wedding ring in NZ?

Yes — tungsten is the most scratch-resistant ring metal sold in New Zealand and holds its mirror polish through years of trades work, farming or office wear. It sits in the mid-price band (well under most gold options) and ships free across NZ. The main trade-off is that it cannot be resized, so getting the fit right at order time matters.

Can tungsten rings be cut off in an emergency?

Yes, but not with a standard ring cutter. NZ emergency departments and jewellers use locking pliers or a vice-grip to apply pressure at two points until the ring cracks cleanly into two halves, which actually comes off faster than sawing through gold. Always tell medical staff the ring is tungsten so they grab the right tool.

Will a tungsten ring turn my finger green or black?

No. Quality tungsten carbide rings use a nickel-free binder and are hypoallergenic, so there is no oxidation transfer to skin. If you see grey marks it is usually a metallic-soap reaction from heavy hand-cream or sunscreen — wash with warm water and it lifts off.

How do I get the right tungsten ring size in NZ?

NZ ring sizing uses the same A–Z letter scale as Australia and the UK, so any NZ jeweller can size you for free. Because tungsten cannot be resized after manufacture, we recommend getting sized at the end of the day when fingers are at their largest, and ordering a half-size up if you work outdoors in cold weather.

Considering alternatives?

Buyers weighing up tungsten often also look at titanium rings — both are hypoallergenic and modern, but titanium is roughly four times lighter on the finger while tungsten holds a brighter, more scratch-proof polish. Pick tungsten for weight and shine, titanium for an almost-weightless feel.
