How To Match His And Her Rings

How To Match His And Her Rings

While in many western countries it’s customary to for the bride to wear an engagement ring, a wedding ring, and sometimes an eternity ring, in others it’s more customary for the bride to wear a single wedding band that matches the mens wedding ring. This is not only a great way to celebrate your new bond, but it is usually pretty budget friendly as well! Of course, you don’t have to match the wedding rings exactly if you don’t want to. You can have exactly the same band and design, but inset a single or triple stone for the bride’s wedding band.

Same Design, Same Metal

Of more importance is the metal and broad design elements of the wedding ring. For example, if the groom’s ring is going to be brushed titanium, then the bride’s ring should be the same. A different size and width will suit her finger, but the finish and material must be identical. Because different metals have different colours, and reflect light differently, to get that “perfect partnership” look, they’ll need to be the same.

Which Metal?

While brides tend to gravitate towards the softer metals like gold and silver (usually for sentimental reasons), these aren’t always the most ideal metals for the “male lifestyle”. This is because mens’ workplaces and hobbies are often a lot rougher than womens’, and they tend to destroy things quicker. As such, you might want to consider metals that are both attractive to look at as well as able to withstand even the manliest of men.

Tungsten Carbide Wedding Rings

Tungsten carbide is most well known for it’s ability to be virtually scratch-proof, but what is less well known is that it is also extremely dense, which makes it quite heavy. For women who are used to wearing lighter metals, this can be an uncomfortable feeling initially, and for men who don’t like wearing rings, it may not be the best choice.

Titanium Wedding Rings

Titanium is the safer choice, as a titanium wedding ring is both durable and light, and suited to both male and female wearers. It is also the most hypoallergenic metal available, and as women are more prone to adverse skin reactions (due to a higher rate of piercing) this is an ideal metal to be wearing every day for the rest of your life.

Gold Wedding Rings

If you simply must have a gold wedding ring, then there really isn’t any question which metal you should go for. At the end of the day, you must both enjoy wearing your wedding rings, regardless of some of the practicalities.
